  • The modification of silicone elastomers for adhesion is evaluated using a unique coagent/adhesion promoter liquid resin. High vinyl polybutadiene resins have been known to behave as coagents in silicone elastomers as previously reported by Drake et al. (1981)(1)• This new work has demonstrated that a maleinized high vinyl polybutadiene liquid resin (PBD/MAJ can provide improved adhesion of properly compounded silicone elastomers to many substrates, as well as improvements in certain properties of the silicone elastomer such as oil swell resistance and compression set.
