  • Thermoplasti copolyester elastomers based upon terephthalic acid, 1,4-butanediol and poly-(tetramethylene-ether)glycol possess an unusual combination of processing characteristics and physical properties. This combination has made possible their use as a replacement for cured rubber in a number of applications and has also permitted the development of new design concepts which make use of some of the unusual combination of physical properties. These applications include rotationally molded tires, extruded belts, gears, sprockets, flexible couplings, and retractile telephone cords. Each of these applications makes use of a specific processing and/or property feature of the copolyesters. This results in a unique product having an improved performance record and/or lower cost.
